Solution


Join the denominators.
\[\frac{1+x}{3}=2\]
Multiply both sides by \(3\).
\[1+x=2\times 3\]
Simplify  \(2\times 3\)  to  \(6\).
\[1+x=6\]
Subtract \(1\) from both sides.
\[x=6-1\]
Simplify  \(6-1\)  to  \(5\).
