Question

$$\frac{ 2x-1 }{ 3 } = \frac{ x+5 }{ 2 }$$

Answer

x=17

Solution

Multiply both sides by \(6\) (the LCM of \(3, 2\)).
\[2(2x-1)=3(x+5)\]
Expand.
\[4x-2=3x+15\]
Add \(2\) to both sides.
\[4x=3x+15+2\]
Simplify  \(3x+15+2\)  to  \(3x+17\).
\[4x=3x+17\]
Subtract \(3x\) from both sides.
\[4x-3x=17\]
Simplify  \(4x-3x\)  to  \(x\).
\[x=17\]
